Tourism: Agency procures white, red deer for Kano Zoo

By Zainab  Olufunmi

The Kano Zoological Garden and Wildlife Management Agency (KAZOWMA), says it will  procure white and red dear to boost domestic tourism in the state.

The Managing Director of the agency, Mr Sadiq Muhammad, said this at the 2025 World Wildlife Day at Botanical Garden, on Monday in Kano.

The theme of the Day is: “World Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in people and Planet.”

Muhammad said the agency would educate students from the schools in the host community, to the importance of tree preservation to mitigate climate change, and value different animal species.

“These children are our continuity and future. There is need for them to have a good knowledge of what tree felling and zoo entails,” he said.

He said that the agency has about 48 animal species, including two lion cubs procured recently, and announced plans to procure more.

Muhammad, therefore, cautioned against attack on game rangers, endangering animals and felling of trees, warning that penalties for such acts was 10 years imprisonment. (NAN)
