UN Global Road Safety Week: FRSC urges motorists, transport unions to promote safer roads

Kano, May 13, 2025(NAN) The Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC) has urge motorists, transport unions to join hand with the corps in championing as ensuring safer road across the state.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Kano State, Mohammed Bara’u disclosed this at the commemoration of eight United Nation Global Road Safety Week on Tuesday in Kano.
Bara'u said that every life matters and that road crashes are preventable when the right attitudes, policies, and partnerships are adopted.
According to him, "UN global road safety week is a biennial initiative and one of the most significant global advocacy platforms for drawing attention to road safety issues and promoting sustainable actions to prevent road traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
"This campaign provides an opportunity for governments, stakeholders, civil society and communities to unite around common road safety goals.
"This year’s edition emphasizes the importance of safer mobility systems, responsible road use and protection of all categories of road users, particularly the most vulnerable ,pedestrians, cyclists, and children",he said.
Bara'u further explained that FRSC is committed will align with the global objective through strategic engagements and community-based activities.
He added that the corps will sensitize , distribute flyers across major road corridors and terminals in Kano metropolis to tricycle operators and pedestrians with key road safety messages.(NAN)
