Coalition urges supreme court to expedite ruling on kano emirship tussle

The Coalition of Political Analysts Forum, Democracy Protectors and Good Governance has called on the Supreme Court to expedite judgment on the lingering legal tussle surrounding the Kano Emirate.

The Executive Director of the Forum, Comrade Al-Amin Albarra, made the call on Thursday during a press briefing in Kano.

He expressed concern over the prolonged emirship dispute, warning that the situation poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the state.

Albarra urged the court to deliver a final verdict on the matter that is been dragged on for over a year, creating confusion, allowing room for political interference and manipulation.

According to him,“we are  disturbed by the dangerous dimension this case is heading to in which a constitutionally arrived matter is erroneously been hijacked by all comers intended to create chaos, mischief and reckless intervention in the legal process.

He added that the coalition believes the Supreme Court should clearly determine legal powers regarding the creation of traditional institutions in Nigeria’s democratic setting.

Albarra further warned that continued delay could lead to increased tension, misunderstanding, and a deepening divide among the people of Kano State along ethnic and loyalty lines.
