NOA urges PTAs to promote handiwork skills among students for self-reliance

By Zainab Olufunmi The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to educate parents on the importance of encouraging their children to acquire handiwork skills as a path to self-reliance. This appeal was made by the Assistant Director of the Agency, Hajiya Hauwa Adamu, during a courtesy visit to the State PTA Chairman in Kano to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration on Wednesday. According to Adamu, engaging children in vocational skills will better prepare them for the future and help them face life with confidence. "We visited several public schools and observed that some had low student turnout, while others had pupils arriving late," she said. She added that reintroducing the school feeding programme would motivate children to come to school early. HJRBDA to improve water resource management, maintain key infrastructure

By Olufunmi Zainab The Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) has pledged to enhance water resource management, maintain critical infrastructure, and support farmers to ensure food security and foster economic development. The Managing Director of HJRBDA, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman, made this known during a comprehensive familiarization tour of major water infrastructure projects under the authority’s jurisdiction. The tour focused on critical water storage and hydroelectric facilities such as the Challawa Gorge Dam (with a storage capacity of 962 million cubic meters), Tiga Dam (1.968 billion cubic meters), and the Ruwan Kanya River Storage (50 million cubic meters).
