NOA urges PTAs to promote handiwork skills among students for self-reliance
By Zainab Olufunmi The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to educate parents on the importance of encouraging their children to acquire handiwork skills as a path to self-reliance. This appeal was made by the Assistant Director of the Agency, Hajiya Hauwa Adamu, during a courtesy visit to the State PTA Chairman in Kano to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration on Wednesday. According to Adamu, engaging children in vocational skills will better prepare them for the future and help them face life with confidence. "We visited several public schools and observed that some had low student turnout, while others had pupils arriving late," she said. She added that reintroducing the school feeding programme would motivate children to come to school early.
